Hape International, as a global leader in the wooden toy industry, has built a strong and sustainable supply chain collaboration system by leveraging the “Hape Quality House” management framework and its global sourcing network. Through close cooperation with around 700 suppliers, the company sources raw and auxiliary materials globally. According to statistics, Hape’s supply chain partnerships have created over 200,000 jobs and driven an industry scale exceeding 10 billion RMB.

Through the implementation of the “Hape Sustainable Supply Chain Project” Innovative Collaboration was demonstrated through three main initiatives:

Moreover, during the pandemic, Hape has demonstrated effective risk management measures that included: monitored delivery lead times, production capacity bottlenecks, and inventory levels to anticipate potential risks, helping partners maintain stable operations and supply chains.

Transparency and Information Sharing is done through Hape’s SCM (Supply Chain Management) system, where technical specifications, order requirements, delivery schedules, inventory status, and quality information are shared with core suppliers in real time. All order and delivery data are fully traceable to the source.

It has solved the problem of low efficiency caused by the original manual testing, significantly shortening the testing time. It is estimated that with the help of smart test, the value increase of the annual plant capacity can reach RMB 5 to 50 million, greatly enhancing the production efficiency. It can also help eliminating potential risks such as inconsistent testing standards and fluctuations in result accuracy caused by differences in manual operations.

On-site testing may face risks such as high temperatures, high pressures, and toxic environments. By conducting remote and automated testing, personnel intervention can be reduced, thereby lowering the safety hazards of testing. Ultimately, achieve the transformation of factory safety function testing from "labor-intensive" to "intelligent and efficient", and complete the transition from "traditional high-risk" to "digital and smart safety", providing industrial enterprises with testing solutions that are both compliant, accurate and safe. In terms of innovative collaboration, Liebherr’s logistics department actively maintains close communication with logistics providers, staying informed about their latest sustainability initiatives and evaluating their feasibility for implementation. Through in-depth discussions with DHL, we learned about its Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) solution for international express services, which helps customers reduce carbon emissions in logistics. In 2024, by adopting DHL’s GoGreen Plus service, we successfully reduced carbon emissions by 10.01 tons of CO₂.

At the same time, we collaborated with DB Schenker to become an early adopter of new energy vehicles for export air freight pickup, replacing traditional fuel-powered trucks. While keeping pickup costs unchanged, this initiative enabled a green transformation of the transportation process, effectively balancing operational cost and environmental responsibility, thereby improving overall efficiency.

For domestic land transport, we worked with our carrier Xiangtie to introduce new energy light trucks for urban deliveries in Shanghai, replacing traditional fuel vehicles. Each vehicle can reduce carbon emissions by around 11 metric tons per year—over 40% significantly improving environmental performance.

Through this series of collaborative efforts, Liebherr is not only driving the development of a green supply chain in practice but also deeply integrating sustainability goals into our overall logistics strategy, supporting the creation of long-term corporate value.

VWATJ has achieved cost savings through transportation mode adjustments in the milkrun inbound logistics

business of the supply chain. After picking-up goods from over 100 suppliers of China, this service is transported over long haul transport to VWATJ's distribution warehouse in Tianjin, then according to the

production plan, delivered to the factory.

Breaking away from the traditional door-to-door diesel truck delivery mode, VWATJ is actively trying to switch into inland sea freight transportation mode by collaborating with parts suppliers and adjusting the ordering cycle, simulating the sea freight transportation environment for salt spray testing, and other measures, VWATJ has successfully achieved the long-haul transportation mode of land transportation to sea transportation. At the same time, ATJ is also actively trying long-haul and terminal delivery transportation by using electric trucks.

In 2024 (Q3+Q4), transportation costs had been saved by about 7% by changing to Sea transportation. And destination delivery from Tianjin Sea port, the carbon dioxide emissions had been reduced by about 50% compared to diesel trucks.

At the same time, VWATJ plans to implement the railway long-haul transportation mode in 2026, thereby further saving land transportation costs and achieving emission reduction targets.

Since 2023, SAIC VOLKSWAGEN has been executing a comprehensive ESG strategy framework aligned with global best practices. The strategy builds upon the United Nation Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as well as leading international and domestic ESG standards (including GRI, Hong Kong Stock Exchange requirements, and China Automotive Technology & Research Center guidelines).

Through rigorous benchmarking and internal assessment, SAIC VOLKSWAGEN has identified 27 material ESG topics relevant to our operations, developed 'GROWTH' ESG strategy framework, and established ESG vision: "Sustainability Empowers Company Growth". The Growth strategy is structured around six strategic pillars: ‘Governance (G),’ Responsible products (R),’‘Obligation to society (O),’‘Way to low-carbon (W),’ ‘Transition to circular economy (T),’ and ‘Harmless to planet (H),’ covering all material issues.

SAIC VOLKSWAGEN conducted extensive stakeholder surveys—engaging shareholders, customers, suppliers, dealers, industry associations, media, and other key groups—to identify material topics. Based on the findings, the company constructed a materiality matrix and prioritized these topics accordingly.

Building upon this foundation, SAIC VOLKSWAGEN has implemented a three-tier ESG governance framework comprising governance, management, and execution levels, with clearly defined responsibilities for each tier. 1) Comprehensive strategy: Schaeffler's sustainable development strategy involves five major action areas: a) Driving Climate Action towards Net-Zero: Reducing greenhouse gas emissions in own operations and along the value chain by pursuing actionable levers, esp. in purchasing, energy use, and product design; b) Transitioning towards a Circular Economy: Reducing the impact on the environment by embedding circularity principles across the value chain and realizing opportunities from circular business models; c) Protecting Human Rights and Work Conditions: Ensuring and promoting human rights and fair work conditions (especially health and safety) in own operations and in the supply chain; d) Empowering People for a Sustainable Future: Enhancing the capabilities of own workforce and workers in the value chain, focusing on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and retaining talent; e) Ensuring Integrity in Decision Making: Ensuring Schaeffler's decisions are guided by standards of integrity and stakeholder exchange, with reliable data and transparent reporting.

2) Innovation and Creativity: We shared a biodiversity course named ‘Peace with Nature’ during Global Learning Week in March, which discussed the close relationship between biodiversity and climate change, relevant domestic and international regulations, customer requirements, company policies, and best practices both internally and externally. On Family Day in April, we invited children to participate in activities such as planting flowers and plants on rooftops and picking up garbage at the beach, to let them understand the importance of protecting nature. In July, an external consulting firm was invited to conduct biodiversity risk assessments on three domestic factories, based on TNFD's LEAP methodology and referencing multiple databases both domestically and internationally. Risk assessment countermeasures were also provided. In September, we will hold a keynote speech on "Biodiversity Risk Management" in the internal "Walk into Plant" event, involving more employees to participate in the interaction of this topic.

3) Stakeholder engagement: We have shared the results of biodiversity assessment with stakeholders and discussed the management and best practices. Especially a) site protection during the ore mining stage for material supplier (upstream), b) consideration of bird migration routes during offshore wind turbine operation for wind power customer (downstream).

4) Measurable impact: The report evaluates eight aspects from the dimensions of "species diversity" and "ecosystem diversity", and the overall risk is controllable.

5) Consistency with global goals: In accordance with the European Sustainability Reporting Standard, contents of "Biodiversity and Ecosystems" in the E4 section of 2025 Sustainability Report was elaborated.

To advance decarbonization efforts, BMW Brilliance's plants have been powered by 100% renewable electricity since 2019. In 2021, it led China's inaugural green power trading pilot with a transaction volume of 2.78 billion kWh. In 2024, BMW Brilliance's Shenyang powertrain plant launched a deep geothermal heating project, expected to commence full operation in 2025 with annual CO₂ reductions of 18,000 metric tons.

Simultaneously, BMW is steering upstream and downstream partners toward building a green automotive supply chain. It mandates all Tier 1 and energy-intensive Tier N suppliers to exclusively use renewable electricity, accelerating low-carbon transformation across the supply chain. In 2024, the "IONCHI" charging brand—a joint venture between BMW Brilliance and Mercedes-Benz—became the first to achieve 100% green charging.

Boehringer Ingelheim China has invested approximately 30 million RMB in over 60 decarbonization or renewable energy initiatives, e.g., German standard photovoltaic stations, renewable energy purchasing, carbon credit procurement through investing in Sichuan biogas project. By 2024, the absolute value of greenhouse gas emissions had decreased by 66% (28,438 tons) compared to base year in 2019. Two production sites in Shanghai have achieved carbon neutrality since 2021 and 2023 respectively. Boehringer Ingelheim has proactively engaged central and local industry associations on the formulation of green and low-carbon related standards.

In terms of water stewardship, Boehringer China participated in the Impact Accelerator project led by Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS) in Wusong River catchment, with 9 cross disciplinary companies in 2024, jointly identifying common water challenges and promoting Climate Action with various stakeholders (local government, Industry Park and community, water supplier and treatment plant, NGOs and industrial associations, etc.). Up to now, two production sites in Shanghai have successfully implemented various water optimization projects, resulting in a cumulative wastewater reuse of over 33,000 tons per year, saving about 30%. Besides water volume, Boehringer Ingelheim has also been carrying out Pharmaceutical in the Environment (PiE) project at all production sites since 2020 to monitor and control water quality. Grounded in lifecycle assessment (LCA) principles, the methodology enables institutions to quantify the financed emissions of residential building projects across different scales and green building certification levels in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.

At its core, the solution includes a standardized carbon accounting model and a comprehensive database of emission factors and intensity benchmarks. This allows for consistent, efficient, and science-based evaluation of carbon footprints, empowering banks to make informed lending and investment decisions aligned with national climate goals.

Innovative Solutions:

This is the first time a lifecycle carbon accounting approach has been tailored to the financing of green residential buildings in China. By linking emissions data with financial products, the model transforms abstract carbon metrics into actionable insights for investment decisions.

Measurable Reductions:

The methodology allows banks to track and report financed emissions in a quantifiable way, helping them actively reduce their exposure to carbon-intensive assets. Applied across 10 banks—including China Industrial Bank, Export-Import Bank of China, and China Merchants Bank—it has already informed low-carbon investment shifts.

Scalability and Replicability:

The model is designed for integration into existing financial workflows and can be replicated across different regions, banks, and even other sectors. Its standardization and open-data framework ensure easy scalability.

Cross-Sector Collaboration:

The project bridged the finance and construction sectors, overcoming longstanding data and communication silos. Through coordinated efforts, the team fostered a new model for cross-sectoral ESG innovation.

Future Plans:

The vision is an adoption across more financial institutions and extend the methodology to cover commercial buildings and other real estate asset classes. It will also support real estate developers in building more robust carbon accounting systems, driving sector-wide transformation.

By equipping financial institutions with practical tools for climate-aligned investing, this project accelerates the flow of capital to green development, driving measurable, scalable, and lasting impact on China's climate goals.

DHL was the first global logistics company to set a quantifiable climate protection target in 2007. In 2024, DHL unveiled “Strategy 2030 – Accelerate Sustainable Growth”, in which “Green Logistics of Choice” was added as the fourth strategic bottom line, aiming to support its customers' supply chains decarbonization.

Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) and GoGreen Plus

A major initiative is to secure a 30% blend of SAF by 2030. SAF can reduce emissions by up to 80 per cent over its lifecycle. DHL was the first global express carrier to give customers the option of using SAF. Despite ongoing global shortages in SAF supply, DHL has achieved a blending ratio to 3.5% by the end of 2024-one of the highest among global airlines. DHL China played an active role in facilitating partnership building and procurement activities, and proactive advocating for the establishment of national policies and standards. In July 2025, through concerted efforts of DHL and its ecosystem partners, the SAF Committee under the Ministry of Transport was successfully established.

In 2023, DHL pioneered GoGreen Plus service, the industry's first international shipping solution enabling customers to choose the usage of sustainable biofuels via an "inset" carbon reduction mechanism, enabling direct replacement of fossil fuels. The service was well accepted in China, where it has adopted by over 70,000 customers, including top companies like Xiaomi, Honor, CATL and Envision.

Fleet electrification

DHL establishes extensive collaborations with local automakers, including SAIC and BYD, to advance last mile fleet electrification. DHL Express China has electrified 30 percent of its last mile fleet, ranking first among all DHL Express business regions worldwide. E-trucks were also deployed in several cities. The collaboration is continuously expanding. In July 2025, DHL and SAIC Maxus jointly held a delivery ceremony in Shanghai for 300 all-electric vehicles, which will be deployed to enhance DHL's last mile delivery network across Europe. A portion of the vehicles will be transported to Europe via DHL's innovative rail intermodal solution-a key initiative in building sustainable supply chains that significantly reduces carbon emissions.

Additionally, DHL is expanding use of electricity from renewable sources. DHL Express China has achieved 100 percent usage of electricity from renewable sources in its infrastructure and vehicles. Other initiatives include conducting green upgrades to infrastructure and promoting digital solutions such as electronic waybills. High-energy-consuming equipment—including chillers, air conditioning systems, and mold preheating devices—has been upgraded, for example, with the adoption of RTO heat recovery equipment reducing mold preheating energy consumption by up to 40%.

Process Reengineering:

Sustainability concept is adopted in new production line layouts to optimize energy usage and efficiency. A circular warehousing and logistics system has been established to improve resource utilization, achieving 100% recyclability of internal packaging.

Management Upgrades:

Energy monitoring systems track over 500 energy consumption nodes in real time, enabling dynamic optimization of energy use based on data-driven insights. Paperless office practices have been fully implemented; for example, a single paperless material flow project at the Shanghai Electronics Plant saves over 3 million A4 sheets annually.

After the project implementation, annual CO₂ emissions have been reduced by over 15,100 tons, which is equivalent to planting approximately 251,667 trees, and cost savings have exceeded ten million yuan, which can be reinvested in R&D and innovation. In 2022, Jiangsu MR Manufacturing Co., Ltd. successfully built up 599.5KW distributed photovoltaic power generation system on company's light steel roof. The electricity generated is self-consumed and the surplus is fed into the grid. This has completely solved the power rationing difficulties and risks that enterprises may face during the peak electricity consumption period in summer and made positive contributions to the path of sustainable development. Since its grid connection in August 2022 till now, it has generated a total of 1.893 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, reduced CO2 emissions by 1.89 kilotons, saved 764.72 tons of standard coal, and planted an equivalent of 103,000 trees, providing successful and replicable experience for other enterprises. Based on the completion of the photovoltaic power generation system, our company carried out corresponding green transformation and upgrading of the air conditioning system and lighting system in 2023, achieving energy conservation and emission reduction. 3. In 2024, total CO2 emissions in China decreased by 99%, surpassing the group's 2030 target of a 42% reduction in carbon emissions. Annual CO2 reduction exceeded 230 tons (172.6 tons from the process system + 58 tons from heat recovery). Following the national proposal of the "dual-carbon" strategy, Shanghai KSB Pump Co., Ltd. has formulated its own green and sustainable development strategy, which includes three aspects: first, promoting green operations of the company; second, achieving zero-carbon products through the development of green supply chains; third, developing new pump products for new energy industries such as hydrogen energy and carbon capture.

Since 2021, the company has invited the China Quality Certification Center to launch third-party carbon verification work in line with the ISO 14064 standard. In the same year, through the renovation of water supply and drainage pipeline systems, the company effectively saved 50% of water consumption. The rooftop photovoltaic project generates over 6 million kWh of electricity annually, meeting more than 50% of the factory's electricity demand and reducing carbon emissions by 2,000 tons per year. This project implements an intelligent upgrade of three air-cooled heat pump units , integrating them with a centralized cooling/heating energy management platform to achieve precise load matching and dynamic regulation. Simultaneously, a 300RT high-efficiency variable-frequency screw water-cooled chiller (cooling capacity: ~1,055kW) is added to the Phase II equipment room. It forms a dual-mode cooling system ("variable-frequency screw + absorption-type") with an existing 844kW lithium bromide unit. Supported by intelligent group control technology, this system ensures stable cooling supply for Phase I/II processes while significantly enhancing part-load efficiency . The chilled water system replaces three high-energy-consumption circulation pumps with variable-frequency pumps (single pump specs: 200m³/h flow, 35m head, 30kW power). These are paired with an "one-pump-one-control" variable-frequency drive system and DN200 intelligent regulating butterfly valves , retaining the original parallel pipeline structure. This enables on-demand flow control, reducing distribution energy consumption by 20%-30% . Post-retrofit, the system achieves annual CO₂ emission reductions of 571 tons.

Merck China adopts a "three-pronged" energy transition strategy, which includes: 1) improving energy efficiency, 2) installing rooftop photovoltaics, and 3) purchasing green electricity, thereby contributing to climate change mitigation through concrete actions.

1) Improving Energy Efficiency

Merck China actively implements energy efficiency AI enhancement measures and establish an energy management platform that utilizes real-time production and equipment data to optimize and adjust energy supply. Merck has two production sites in Nantong that leverage AI and IIoT technologies to optimize the energy efficiency of chiller units. This allows for real-time control based on accurate data and demand forecasts, resulting in an average energy consumption reduction of approximately 20%.

2) Installing Rooftop Photovoltaics

We have installed rooftop photovoltaics at five sites across three business sectors. For example, our LS Wuxi site has installed grid-connected solar panels with a capacity of 880 kW, resulting in an average carbon dioxide reduction of 646 tons per year. More over, since the installation of solar panels in 2016, the Jinqiao factory has achieved a total carbon reduction of approximately 3,000 tons.

3) Purchasing Green Electricity

In 2024, Merck signed green electricity purchase agreements with China Resources Power and Envision. The purchased green electricity fully covers Healtcare, Life Sciences, and electronics businesses. The transaction process is based on blockchain technology, ensuring the traceability of renewable energy throughout its entire lifecycle and guaranteeing the authenticity of green electricity consumption. As a result, the proportion of green electricity used in Merck's operations in China has reached 80%.

Induction melting technology is based on the principle of electromagnetic induction heating. It offers significant advantages in terms of efficiency, environmental compatibility, safety and long-term economic benefits compared to gas melting.

The OTTO JUNKER coreless medium-frequency induction furnace achieves a metal loss of less than 1% and an energy consumption of less than 500 kWh/t when melting aluminium. It provides precise temperature and process control, with adjustable bath movement, making it particularly well-suited to producing high-quality alloys and for aluminium scrap recycling. An OTTO JUNKER induction furnace system can be equipped with the patented system OCP+ (OPTICAL COIL PROTECTION PLUS), which monitors the local temperature distribution on the inner surface of the induction coil in order to effectively identify potential risks such as erosion, cracks and metal fins that could cause wear to the furnace lining or damage to the crucible.

One of our customers — a leading domestic, high-end aluminium profile R&D and manufacturing company that has been partnered with a globally renowned American multinational technology company since 2009 — has chosen an induction melting furnace manufactured by OTTO JUNKER. The company plans to use renewable electricity as an energy source in order to eliminate direct carbon dioxide emissions and minimise the environmental impact.

In 2024/25, this customer has taken part in the practical course element of a carbon neutrality capacity-building project run jointly by their partner and Tsinghua University. This project attracted interdisciplinary students to conduct research on topics such as the construction of zero-carbon factories, thereby helping to drive the industry towards its zero-carbon goals. Otto Junker is pleased to share best practices and promote sustainable development in the aluminium industry through such exchanges and collaborations.

Based on the Product Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) theory, VOLKSWAGEN Methodology and CATARC Methodology, SAIC Volkswagen has created a scientific and efficient decarbonization management system, promoting carbon reduction across the whole value chain, including R&D, supply chain, production, logistics, sales, usage and recycling, etc. Industry-leading achievements are as followings: 526 models’ Product Carbon Footprint were calculated,88.5% of them perform better than the industry average level; the production energy consumption per vehicle of 2024 decreased by 12.9% compared with 2023, reducing carbon emissions 133,000 tons; "Automotive Enterprise Decarbonization Management System” created by SAIC Volkswagen was awarded the 2024 Shanghai Enterprise Management Modern Innovation Achievement Award; SAIC Volkswagen is the co-compiler of 15 national and industry standards in “Dual Carbon” field.

SAIC Volkswagen already achieved carbon peaking in 2018 and has established decarbonization strategy with clear technical roadmap: by 2030, per-vehicle life cycle carbon emission index will be reduced by 25%; carbon neutrality will be fully realized by 2050.

Schaeffler offers a comprehensive PEM hydrogen production solution, covering water purification, power supply, and gas-water separation. Combined with energy storage and fuel cell systems, it establishes a closed-loop clean energy cycle of "Electricity-Hydrogen-Electricity".

We have made “Power to X” a reality, supporting the industrial park in achieving its zero-carbon goals under the organizational carbon model. Schaeffler has provided robust technical and practical backing for the long-term vision of sustainability, and, together with Jiading Hydrogen Park, set up a replicable business model and standard. This lays a solid foundation for an efficient and effective utilization plan for new wind and solar energy in Shanghai. By seamlessly integrating renewable and traditional energy, energy storage systems, and diverse energy applications, we have realized greater energy diversification.

Project highlights include：

1. Innovative Solutions

• Schaeffler’s 500kW PEM electrolyzer converts rooftop solar electricity into hydrogen and oxygen, enabling full “power-to-hydrogen” integration through direct water electrolysis.

• A one-stop hydrogen production platform has been developed, allowing users to easily produce and store hydrogen by simply connecting to municipal water and electricity, greatly enhancing the accessibility and scalability of hydrogen facilities.

• By-product high-purity oxygen is collected and utilized, maximizing resource efficiency and sup-porting emission reductions.

2. Measurable Reductions

• During off-grid microgrid operation, the park achieves zero-carbon use, significantly raising the share of renewables in terminal consumption.

• The project is expected to deliver an annual CO₂ reduction of approximately 1,400 tons.

• The standardized model is suitable for science and industrial parks as well as distributed energy sites.

• The modular “Generation-Grid-Load-Storage” approach is highly replicable and can be promoted nationwide or internationally.

The normal decor paper uses the wood pulp from South America and Brazil, the producing process and transportation process will cause a lot of carbon footprint. For solving the problem, we are using bamboo and bagasse waste to produce decor paper. There are a lot of bamboo raw material resources in China, and it grow fast with no big transportation carbon footprint when people use it in China. the bagasse waste is the waste from sugar industry, which does not create the extra carbon footprint. This mindset could also transported to chemicals or furniture maker company to replace some old materials to environment friendly materials. For the future, we plan to transfer this product also to other kinds of product like different application or different color decor paper.

SPARTEK Low-Carbon Experience Center (2,995㎡, Kunshan, China), developed by Borto (Suzhou) New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., stands as a pioneering response, aligning fully with the “More than a Market Awards” criteria.

In terms of Innovative Solutions, the center integrates passive and active energy-saving technologies seamlessly. Passively, it adopts high-performance insulation (roof K=0.39 W/(m²·K), exterior wall K=0.67 W/(m²·K)) and smart sunshades; actively, it deploys Spartek’s first-class variable-frequency heat pumps, capillary radiation AC systems, and a 800kWp PV system (annual power generation 850MWh). A cloud management platform enables real-time energy monitoring and AI-driven optimization, redefining “low-carbon + comfort” for buildings.

For Measurable Reductions, post one-year operation (as of April 2025), the center’s energy consumption is only 46.1 kWh/(㎡·year)—far below average office buildings. With full PV coverage, it has achieved near-zero carbon operation, cutting annual CO₂ emissions by over 80% compared to traditional buildings of the same scale.

Regarding Scalability and Replicability, its modular tech (heat pumps, PV, smart controls) adapts to commercial, residential, and industrial buildings. Standardized design/operation manuals derived from the center simplify replication across regions.

In Cross-Sector Collaboration, it partners with building designers, energy firms, and research institutions to refine tech integration and promote low-carbon building standards.

For Future Plans, Spartek will iterate its energy management system, expand the model to more cities, and advocate for industry-wide adoption—driving the construction sector’s sustainable, climate-friendly transition.

Socially, multi-pollutant monitoring ensures dual compliance, mitigating shutdown risks and enabling enterprises to obtain Green Factory certification and access to premium markets like the EU. In governance, precise CO₂ measurements underpin corporate responses to carbon market mechanisms and low-carbon transition initiatives.

Covering diverse scenarios from power plants to ship engines, the project collaborates with industrial partners to advance the shift from "dual control of energy consumption" to "dual control of carbon emissions." Project Introduction 项目介绍

During candy production, high-strength organic wastewater is generated. To manage this sustainably, the company built an in-house wastewater treatment plant and adopted an anaerobic biological treatment process. The ICX reactor produces approximately 1,757 m³ of biogas per day, containing about 55% methane.

In the past, this biogas was flared, releasing CO₂ and H₂O. To improve resource efficiency, the company launched the Biogas-to-Energy Utilization Project.

After two years of preparation, the project began trial operations in November 2023. The biogas is collected in gas holders, desulphurized, and combusted in an evaporator to generate clean steam through heat exchange. This clean steam supplies heat to the production workshops and supports winter operations at the wastewater treatment facility.

Key Outcomes:

·In 2024, approx. 544,778 m³ of biogas was collected, producing 2,676 tons of steam.

·From January to June 2025, 236,241 m³ of biogas was collected, producing 940 tons of steam.

·Based on the company’s steam cost benchmark (¥357.6/ton), the project has saved approximately ¥1.41 million in energy costs since trial launch.

In 2024, the company upgraded its boilers and energy management system, further improving efficiency. Looking ahead, Trolli Guangzhou Confectionery Co., Ltd. will continue exploring green energy initiatives—such as the operation of a newly upgraded high-efficiency chiller—to enable multi-scenario utilization of clean energy.

-First phase implementation in Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Ningbo has reduced carbon emissions by 600 tons annually.

-Upon full implementation across Greater China, the project is expected to reduce carbon emissions by 2,000 tons annually.

Scalability and Replicability:

Innovative solutions:

Viessmann Pinghu plant has adopted 3 main initiatives to transition from fossil fuel-based electricity to green electricity:

Installation of photovoltaic panels on the roof.

Introduction of a battery-based power storage system & energy management system to optimise electricity consumption.

Purchase of green power from the local grid.

The project adopts a ‘self-generation and self-consumption + green power purchasing and selling’ combination mode, effectively improving the utilisation rate of renewable energy. It helps companies reducing their CO2 footprint as well as monetising excess electricity production.

Measurable reductions:

The PV system can meet 30% of the plant's electricity demand. In 2024, the plant further increased the proportion of clean energy to 80% by purchasing 50% green power from the national grid. Return on investment <3 years + 12Mio. RMB revenue generation over equipment life cycle.

Scalability and replicability:

This project can easily be replicated to other manufacturing enterprises having enough space for PV and battery storage. It can be scaled to reach higher performance based on the manufacturing site characteristics (location, space, electricity price…).

Cross-sector collaboration:

Through cooperation with PV equipment vendors, power trading platforms and energy storage technology providers, the factory not only improved the utilisation rate of green energy, but also accumulated practical experience in low-carbon operations. This multi-party cross-sector collaboration mode provides a practical example and a co-operative path for the green transformation of the manufacturing industry.

Future plans:

In the future Viessmann Pinghu plant will continue to increase green energy investments and promote the construction of energy storage systems to reach 100% green electricity. Furthermore we are planning to apply for ‘green factory’ to improve the energy management systems in order to steadily improve the level of green operation of the factory.

As the first automaker to endorse the Paris Climate Agreement, Volkswagen Group China is driving tangible progress toward carbon neutrality with remarkable results. Since 2018, 69% carbon emissions have been reduced in manufacturing, equivalent to saving 2.15 million tons of carbon emissions. The installed photovoltaic (PV) capacity at Volkswagen Group’s production sites across China is 244 MW. This industry - leading capacity can power approximately 180,000 residents and reduce 162,000 tons of CO2 annually, equivalent to planting 9.6 million haloxylon ammodendron trees in desertification areas.

To accelerate the clean energy transition, Volkswagen Group China together with all production sites entered into renewable power partnerships in 2024. The MoUs with leading energy providers China Datang Corporation and CGN New Energy were signed separately, supporting transition to 100% renewable or clean electricity in production by 2030.

Launched in 2025, the "Year of Energy" initiative has implemented more than 100 energy-saving measures, achieving a more than 10% year-on-year reduction in energy consumption per vehicle produced in the first half of 2025. To tackle thermal decarbonization challenges in production processes, Volkswagen Group China has piloted multiple innovative solutions—including self-produced biogas and heat pumps—continuously upgrading its green manufacturing system.

In the context of supply chain management, the Group collaborates with partners to pioneer closed-loop recycling solutions for power batteries and automotive plastics. Furthermore, all 1st tier suppliers will use 100% renewable electricity to produce Volkswagen’s components by 2030, accelerating the green transformation of the industrial value chain.

In addition, Volkswagen Group China has planted over 4.3 million trees and shrubs across six sites in four provinces over the past five years through its GREEN BELT initiative, aiding ecologically vulnerable regions in addressing the challenges posed by climate change and ecological degradation.

This project can promote the company's green development. It adopts the Energy Management Contract (EMC) cooperation model, where partners invest in construction, and the company provides the site. After completion, we purchases electricity at a low price, achieving a win-win situation for all parties.

The project delivers measurable emission reductions. With a total installed capacity of 1.5 MWh, it generates approximately 1.5 million kWh of electricity annually, of which the company can consume 1.2 million kWh. It is expected to reduce carbon emissions by 680 tons per year, equivalent to the carbon sequestration effect of planting 50,000 trees.

It boasts excellent scalability and replicability. As a benchmark project, the German headquarters has used it as a case study to promote the installation of photovoltaic facilities in other factories.

Looking ahead, we will strive to achieve our goal of carbon neutrality for SCOPE 1 & 2 by 2030 ahead of schedule, continuously optimize the project, and contribute more to environmental protection and sustainable development.

“Dream Forward ∙ Infinite Possibilities” Initiative

Launched in September 2023 through a strategic partnership between adidas China and the China Children and Teenagers’ Fund (CCTF) with an initial RMB 10 million commitment, the program has committed to a three-year extension post-September 2026.

Positive Social Impact: By July 2025, the program had provided three-year funding (RMB 300,000 per team) for 11 girls’ sports teams in Shandong, Hebei, Yunnan, Guizhou, Liaoning, Inner Mongolia, Ningxia- nearly 65% based in county-level or western region schools. Covering football, basketball, volleyball, track and field, it supports training, high-quality equipment, and competition participation. It has assisted 1,211 disadvantaged children in 121 schools across 19 counties in 9 provinces/regions, including 670 affected by the Gansu Jishishan earthquake. Additionally, 200 schoolgirls received RMB 6,000 scholarships for vocational education in intangible cultural heritage and STEM-related fields.

Ethical Business Practices: As a core partner, the top-tier 5A-rated CCTF consistently achieves full marks on the China Foundation Transparency Index, ranking first among public fundraising foundations. All donations are formally agreed, tracked, and publicly disclosed, demonstrating accountability and transparency.

Stakeholder Engagement: The program established a “province/regions–city-county–school” four-tier cooperation network with Women’s Federations in nine provinces/regions. Sports icons like Xu Genbao, AFC coaches and former national basketball player Chen Nan led intensive camps, providing professional guidance to nearly 100 representatives from girls’ teams in Hebei, Shandong and other regions.

Humanistic care standards: Guided by the philosophy, “Through sport, we have the power to change lives”, the program extends beyond financial support to holistic cultural and personal development. In August 2024 and July 2025, basketball and football camps in Beijing and Shanghai united girls from beneficiary teams for skill development and cultural visits to landmarks including Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, Lenovo Future Pavilion, the Guangfulin Relics Park and the Shanghai Sports Museum, building cultural awareness and athletic skills for well-rounded growth.

Measurable outcomes: The program has directly benefited over 1,600 children; empowered teams from Tancheng No.1 High School, Nanbai Middle School, Yingkou No.2 High School to win provincial and higher-level championships; upgraded facilities in schools such as Xuegong Middle School; and enabled players from Lingwu No.2 Middle School and others to be selected for the national youth talent pool.

By narrowing the gender gap in sports and promoting equal access to educational resources, the program empowers children to realize their potential and pursue their dreams. In 2024, the project was honored as the “Annual Outstanding Project” by China Philanthropist magazine.

Through an empowerment model that "teaches how to fish rather than giving a fish," BMW China Culture Journey collaborates with the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University to help ICH integrate into modern life. Through training programs at Tsinghua University, ICH inheritors have gained a deeper understanding of the necessity to develop consumer insights and market awareness. By applying contemporary industrial design, they are empowered to enrich ICH culture and techniques, creating cultural and creative products that embody ICH connotations and meet consumer preferences.

BMW China Culture Journey also featured interactive experiential visits, invited cultural experts to provide in-depth interpretations of cultural heritage, collaborated with stated-owned media to produce short videos, publish ICH-themed self-drive tour guides, and co-create cultural and creative products. These efforts have brought ICH into the public spotlight, significantly raising awareness and protection consciousness—particularly among the younger generation—toward ICH, as well as fostering respect in cultural diversity.

Over the past 19 years, the program has empowered nearly 1,000 ICH inheritors, significantly enhancing societal awareness of ICH.

At the " Tsinghua BMW Innovation Center for Intangible Cultural Heritage Safeguarding" jointly established by BMW and AAD of Tsinghua University, inheritors received not only professional skills training but also collaborated on co-designing cultural and creative products rooted in intangible cultural heritage. In April 2025, the "BMW Longquan Celadon Portable Tea Set"—co-created by inheritors and Tsinghua professors—was officially launched via the MY BMW APP as part of the BMW Lifestyle Collection. This initiative truly embodies the goal of "integrating intangible cultural heritage into modern life".

In 2024, BMW partnered with the China International Cultural Association and the China Education Development Foundation to launch the "BMW China Culture Journey – Grand Canal Cultural Protection Public Welfare Program". BMW released the "BMW China Culture Journey – Grand Canal Intangible Cultural Heritage Self-Driving Tour Guide," designed to engage various stakeholders in experiencing the Grand Canal firsthand and promote cultural tourism along its route. BMW authorized dealers organized test-drive events themed around Grand Canal culture, complemented by online interactive campaigns and offline promotions to educate owners about the canal’s cultural significance. These efforts encouraged the public to use the guide, deeply engage with the Grand Canal’s cultural heritage, and actively participate in its preservation. By the end of 2024, the guide had accumulated over 450,000 reads.

From February to March 2025, under the initiative of Ray Mirzaei, President and Chief Operating Officer, Brose China, we launched the "Healing Little Hearts, Warming Young Lives" charity campaign. The initiative aimed to raise funds for the Jilin Charity Federation's Children's Medical Aid Program, spreading hope and compassion.

The campaign utilized posters, videos, emails, and charity sales to share touching stories of sick children, inspiring employees' generosity and participation. With strong support from management and enthusiastic employee engagement, over 150,000 RMB was raised.

A highlight occurred on February 27 during Brose China's General Manager Meeting, where “MA Walk” event creatively merged with charity sales. This fusion of MA Walk's spirit and philanthropic action created a donation peak. Employees demonstrated their care through concrete actions.

Beyond providing tangible assistance to sick children, the campaign planted seeds of compassion among staff members, showcasing corporate social responsibility while transmitting warmth and hope.

Duravit China adheres to the above principle and implemented systematic measures to improve the rural education ecosystem: renovating school buildings, donating sports facilities; establishing multimedia classroom (utilizing upgraded and replaced equipment); procuring online courses from an English training institution for these children; organizing museum tours to broaden children's horizons, sponsor teachers to attend off -campus training programs during their summer break.

Apart from providing material assistance, we also focus on the emotional needs of the left-behind children: we convey warmth through the "Wish Tree" at Christmas; hold the "Dream Factory" painting competition, inviting the winners to attend the factory opening ceremony and showcase their talents.

Since 2018, Duravit China has initiated charity auction at our annual national distributor conference, integrating charity into its sustainable development strategy. We have innovatively integrated commercial resources and used the funds raised specifically to support school development. All materials are recycled (such as donating electronic equipment, the auction items are also exhibited products), and environmental protection responsibilities are fulfilled.

In 2022, the school faced a risk of closure due to a shortage of teachers, we partnered with a local NGO to recruit volunteer teachers. Since 2022, 9 teachers have joined the school, bringing expertise in subjects like Chinese, English, mathematics, music, and art. Duravit covers the salaries of these teachers, ensuring they can focus fully on providing quality education.

Duravit advocates the concept of “Everyone's Charity”: our employees actively become volunteers to lead the renovation of school buildings during the summer vacation, serve as teaching assistants for English online courses and activity guides; work with NGO to recruit volunteer teachers.

Positive Social Impact

Blue Dream, Together 3 Years

The Blue Dream Project is a CSR project initiated by Flender China. The project was initiated in early 2023, aiming to support rural education in the western regions and contribute to educational equity and a sustainable future.

Since the project was launched, Flender employees have been deeply involved in it in various capacities such as project member, volunteers, and donors, practicing Flender's CSR philosophy through their actions.

The first phase of the project lasts for three years, with an investment of approximately 300,000 RMB from 2023 to 2025. By donating school uniforms, teaching equipment and stationery, we help the teachers and students of Luochuan School improve their teaching and living conditions. By organizing students to participate in the activities initiated by Flender, students can increase their confidence and broaden their horizons. By renovating student dormitories and donating bedding, the accommodation conditions for students on campus have been improved.

The Blue Dream Project has received strong support from the Beichen District Government, the Zhengning County Government and the education department where the school is situated. After the phased completion of the project, local media in Tianjin, as well as the government websites of Qingyang and Zhengning in Gansu Province all made reports. And it has received the CSR Award from the organization like Mercer Group China.

At present, the dormitory renovation project of Luochuan School in 2025 is under implementation.

However, what truly constitutes the core value of an enterprise is never only products and technology, but also the sense of social responsibility that comes from the heart.

In terms of fulfilling social responsibilities, all employees of the company actively participated, not only employees actively donated money and materials, but also implemented a 1:1 matching mechanism to further amplify the love effect. Before the Hape-Huji POF Project was rolled out in the rural part of China’s Yunnan province only very few preschool classes had toys, which were made mostly from plastic. Classrooms were without the most basic equipment; many would only have tables and chairs. Professional Kindergarten teachers were almost never available. Most teachers were not trained in ‘play-based learning’; hence, classes were taught in an old-fashioned way, that uses primary school pedagogy. On top of that, many parents expected early childhood education to be quite similar to primary school education, consequently, didn’t quite understand the value of preschool education.

With the launch of our project in 2021, 20 Kindergarten classes were equipped with sustainable educational toys and environmentally friendly furniture. During the project, a total of 1734 parents were trained in the “learning through play” approach and other relevant topics, such as hygiene and health. They were involved in various activities and decision-making. As a result, parents and the entire local community became more supportive of ‘play-based learning’ and preschool education.

During the project not only have 1864 children benefitted from the project through high quality preschool education but 77.55% of these children also have improved their mental health.

Jobs were created through the recruitment of locals as teachers. Of these recruits, women and ethnic Hani Minority made up over 90%, earning an education and achieving economic empowerment through the initiative. Through a comprehensive study plan, that incorporated both practical and theoretical training, these teachers gained the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully implement the ‘learning through play’ model into their teaching method. As a direct consequence of the project, some of the teachers were also able to further acquire higher education and qualification certificates.

While the local government, the community and the parents were actively involved in the project, Hape’s employees participated through the volunteer program. A total of 34 Hape employees joined the program from 2021-2025, helping with day-to-day classroom operations, giving training for the toys and enhanced the indoor/outdoor Kindergarten environment. Apart from that, Hape employees gave online training for the toys the classes received. Hape’s employee involvement in the project has helped the teachers to better utilize the toys in the classroom by promoting learning through play.

In 2025, Merck collaborates with YiYou Public Welfare to jointly develop four science literacy enhancement courses covering life sciences, healthcare, electronics, and data digital. Through online meeting, we help primary and secondary school students understand the practical applications of science in addressing global challenges, fostering curiosity, creativity, and interdisciplinary thinking with a STEM education approach. Merck employee volunteers can choose any of the four courses in the "Spark Scientist" program for online teaching, working alongside university student volunteers to interact one-on-one with primary and secondary school students through "cloud classrooms" for interactive teaching.

The project is expected to cover 60,000 university student volunteers and impact 60,000 primary and secondary school students from across the country, particularly from underdeveloped areas. By utilizing online methods, the project breaks geographical barriers, facilitates the sharing of educational resources, promotes educational equity, and helps young people broaden their knowledge base, enhance their scientific literacy, and ignite their interest in exploration and innovation.

On May 16, 2025, Miltenyi Biotec Technology & Trading (Shanghai) Co., Ltd.organized a CSR knitting workshop in support of the Heart to Heart (H2H) initiative, a special fund under the Ren De Foundation. The objective of the event was to teach employees how to knit garments for Heart Bears—handmade bears sold to raise funds for life-saving heart surgeries for children in need.

A total of 14 volunteers participated in the workshop. For many of our younger colleagues, it was their first time working with knitting needles and yarn. Despite this, all participants demonstrated great interest and commitment, attentively following the guidance of instructors and practicing each step with care and patience.

Prior to the workshop, employees also donated a generous number of toiletries to support children with congenital heart disease (CHD) and their families during their hospital stays. This additional act of kindness further demonstrated the compassionate spirit of our Shanghai team.

Participants expressed that the workshop was not only enjoyable but also highly meaningful. While the Heart Bears are undoubtedly charming, their true value lies in the critical support they provide, funding corrective surgeries for children with CHD whose families cannot afford treatment.

Heart to Heart, based in Shanghai, is dedicated to raising funds for children from underprivileged families across China. To date, the initiative has sponsored over 3,000 children for heart surgeries, significantly improving their lives and the lives of their families. This CSR activity was a powerful reminder of the philanthropic spirit within our organization. Our colleagues not only acquired new skills but also contributed to a cause that creates lasting impact. We look forward to continuing our involvement with meaningful initiatives such as Heart to Heart in the future.

The project aims to create a green factory for Motherson DRSC Automotive Systems (Liaoyang) Co., Ltd.

In terms of positive social impact, we have developed a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)program that focuses on the development of the factory site and contributes to the sustainable development of the site by promoting environmental awareness, focusing on energy saving, environmental protection, emission reduction and efficiency in production, and providing a number of skills training activities. In terms of ethical business practices, the company strictly complies with business ethics and relevant regulations and ensures compliance and transparency in all aspects of the project, from the procurement of raw materials to the production and sale of products. Meanwhile, stakeholder engagement is carried out throughout the project, with regular communication with employees, suppliers, customers and community representatives to collect opinions and optimize the plan. We incorporate humanistic standards into our plant operations to improve the working environment for employees and provide health protection and career development opportunities.

Resource-saving, environment-friendly green factory environmental protection investment of1.31 million yuan（4.36% of the annual total output value）, from the project set measurable results, industrial solid waste comprehensive utilization rate of 100%; wastewater treatment reuse rate of 100% unit product comprehensive energy consumption of 1.55tec / 10,000pieces; carbon emissions per unit of product is 0.003tCO2e / piece. Through these indicators, the effectiveness of the CSR program is clearly demonstrated, making the green factory not only a model of environmental protection, but also a positive force to promote social progress and achieve a win-win situation for all parties.

Since 2011, MR China has established primary school libraries in rural areas such as DiLu Primary School, CheLe Primary School in Yunnan, DeQian Primary School in Qinghai, and WanLi Primary School in Hebei. These libraries have brought various teaching courses to teachers and students in remote regions, creating more learning opportunities and improving their educational environment.

This public welfare project was initially facilitated through a collaboration with the “21st Century Newspaper” and later operated and developed independently by MR China. Over the past 15 years, MR China’s charitable efforts have spread across China, promoting the balanced development of educational resources. The project has not only provided children with rich reading materials but also broadened their horizons through activities such as science classes.

During this process, all MR China employees have actively participated. Among the 150+ employees, some have volunteered to teach and assist in these regions, while others have contributed through donations. Additionally, German interns and management from MR’s headquarters in Germany have also actively joined in this charitable initiative, showcasing the spirit of teamwork across the global team.

It is worth mentioning that during the first public benefit activity in Yunnan, MR China met He Qin and He Hai, two siblings from an extremely poor family. MR China has continuously supported the children until their university graduation. After graduation, He Qin became a kindergarten teacher, recently got married, and visited MR China in Shanghai to continue spreading love in both her work and life.

Upholding the concept of “continuous attention and accompaniment,” MR China has long supported these schools, striving to create better educational environments for more children. Over more than a decade of tireless effort, MR China has not only demonstrated a firm commitment to advancing social progress but also highlighted the collective effort of the company and its employees in making a meaningful contribution to society.

Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC) connects communities and exhibitions, committed to leveraging “Sustainable Development SNIEC Friend Circle” to drive industry participation in building livable communities through initiatives such as reusing exhibits, creating job opportunities, and fostering a favorable business environment.

To actively fulfill corporate social responsibility, SNIEC collaborated with the Huamu Sub-district of Pudong New Area and the Furniture China to launch the “Furniture Fair · Exhibits Donation Event” in 2024, reusing over 200 donated furniture exhibits from the exhibitors for residents in need across six communities in the Huamu. The sustainable concept of reusing exhibits has been further promoted and practiced through this event.

Additionally, SNIEC has always focused on the spillover effects of the exhibition economy, striving to empower regional and industry in investment promotion, providing employment opportunities through exhibition activities, and continuously creating corporate social value to better promote the long-term stable development of the regional economy and society.

As a food manufacturer, we recognize that operational safety and product quality depend not only on strict compliance with regulations but also on employees’ mental well-being. Issues like stress, anxiety, and reduced focus can affect adherence to procedures and consistency in output. In fast-paced, high-density production environments—where over 80% of our workforce operates—emotional strain or unresolved team conflicts can heighten operational risks.

In response, our HR team introduced the philosophy of “Care is Operational,” upgrading the traditional Employee Assistance Program (EAP) into a strategic tool for human-factor management. Since 2018, our EAP platform has provided psychological support across themes such as career development, workplace stress, family challenges, and crisis coping—helping employees reflect, grow, and build healthier relationships.

On June 24–25, 2024, 33 frontline supervisors from our packaging department joined the “EAP Skills Training Camp,” learning emotional intelligence skills such as empathic listening and positive leadership. These skills were tailored for production floor communication, helping team leads resolve tensions and maintain coordination. Supervisors gained a structured understanding of emotions and the value of labor—learning to schedule not only manpower but also mental energy.

Two HR colleagues are now certified in EAP and sandplay therapy. The company has opened a dedicated “Mind Garden” space, equipped with sandplay tools, for staff and their families to access psychological support. To date, nearly 100 employees and family members have received consultations.

Looking forward, the HR team will continue integrating emotional well-being into our operations—ensuring that human-centered care drives both team performance and a caring organizational culture.

“WE LIVE DIVERSITY” is one of our VW Group Essentials.

We live diversity in terms of age, cultural background, gender, and sexual orientation and drive workplace inclusion.

Since the project roll out in 2015, VWATJ cooperates with associations (e.g. China Disabled Person’s Federation, GBDN, European Chamber, VW China Entities …) and universities (e.g. Tianjin University of Technology) building up a network to promote inclusion. During events in 2017, 2024 and 2025, VWATJ joined as speaker to share its experience, and to respond to questions and concerns from other companies who consider hiring persons with impairment.

Within the VW Group Region China, we act as a role model and frequently share our best practices and projects with VW entities during regional meetings, workshops and diversity sessions.

Starting from 2023, VWATJ shifted the focus from Recruiting to Inclusion & Qualification.

For 2024 activities, we considered the needs of managers and W2W employees, which are:

•Group activities

Along different kinds of activities, below are the 2024 highlights:

I. Break through the Glass Ceiling - #Remove the Label

In the past, VWATJ positions for disabled employees were visually distinguished by adding a “W2W” Label to the position name. This caused that a rotation to non-W2W positions was not possible.

In Outlook and Skype, the label was added to the employee’s name, unconsciously building barriers and highlighting differences.

Through the #Remove the Label activity, the “W2W” label has been removed, creating equality and providing W2W colleagues with development opportunities.

II. Reaching new Heights

89.6% of W2W employees are on the same position for more than 5 years. The feedback received through the satisfaction survey results 2024 show a high interest in (group) transfer and rotation. VWATJ collaborated with China VW entities to provide development opportunities. For this, VWATJ matched positions and W2W profiles, shared work content insights.

To close the skill gap, among transfer, individual training plans are made.

By now, 6% already explore new professions, further 4% are within the pipeline.

III. Silent Coffee Ordering

To further promote sign language and the culture of deaf (68% of VWATJ W2W), we organized a silent coffee ordering activity, where 379 employees joined.

Prior to the event, an online language course had been released. Participants ordering in sign language received a cup of coffee for free. For everyone who filmed a video in sign language, a thermos-cup had been issued.

WACKER China's "Wonderful Chemistry Journey" Program

WACKER China's "Wonderful Chemistry Journey" is an innovative CSR initiative that brings hands-on chemistry education to underserved youth. Launched in 2023, the program serves school for migrant workers' children. By focusing on the underserved communities, the program directly addresses educational inequality while sparking early interest in science.

While China's education system has rapidly advanced to world-class standards, the educational needs of migrant workers' children often remain overlooked. These workers leave their hometowns for jobs in large cities, working for modest hourly wages, while their children frequently face barriers to enrolling in quality public schools. Shanghai's Minhang District Tangwan Primary School exemplifies this challenge - a privately-run but publicly assisted institution with aging facilities where mismatched desks are commonplace, and advanced laboratory equipment is absent. Yet the students here demonstrate remarkable diligence, striving to change their futures through education.

WACKER's education program specifically serves this school, with WACKER technicians and employees offering regular experiment classes for second graders. Through engaging chemical experiments, children learn not only chemical principles but also the joy of scientific discovery. The classes are also taught at Zhangjiagang Zhongxing Primary School.

To date, the program has delivered more than 220 hours of interactive instruction, directly Benefiting over 800 young students. The program also goes beyond classroom teaching by donating laboratory equipment and providing teacher training.

The program's impact was further amplified in March 2025 when WACKER's global leadership demonstrated their personal involvement. Dr. Christian Hartel, President and CEO of WACKER Chemie, joined WACKER China President Mr. Alvin Hu in conducting a special "cyclodextrin flavor masking” experiment with students at Tangwan Primary School.

As a global chemical company, WACKER has successfully leveraged its core competencies to create social value through this initiative. The "Wonderful Chemistry Journey" program demonstrates how corporate resources such as employee expertise can be effectively channeled to address social needs while staying true to a company's mission. By making science accessible and exciting for children who might otherwise lack such opportunities, WACKER is helping to shape future innovators and problem solvers through targeted educational initiatives.

瓦克中国在2023年启动 “奇妙化学之旅”公益项目，为外来务工子女学校上海民办塘湾小学和张家港中兴小学定制化学实验课。30多位员工志愿者精心设计了“隐形墨水”、“保护长江水”等20多堂趣味实验课，服务时长超220小时，让800余名孩子在实践中感受化学的魅力。

今年三月，瓦克化学总裁兼CEO贺达博士在访华期间走进塘湾小学，与瓦克中国总裁胡文涛先生一起，陪伴孩子们完成环糊精去味实验。

WAGO China has been deeply committed to CSR in the education sector, building a sustainable public welfare ecosystem through its "whole-age support and multi-party collaboration" model to advance educational equity and humanistic development.

The program focuses on addressing the needs of students across different age groups, with a total investment of approximately RMB 1 million. In impoverished primary schools in Hebei, Anhui, and other regions, it has built 5 libraries and 1 science & technology museum, benefiting over 1,000 primary school students and increasing reading and science/technology class hours by 40%. Collaborating with public welfare organizations, it has supported 35 students from underprivileged middle and high schools to complete their education, while strengthening their social connections through corporate visits. For college students, company management serves as career mentors, organizing online and offline career lectures and guidance that have reached over 100 students, facilitating their growth from "knowledge acquisition" to "capability application." Over the years, the company has also continuously organized "employee children’s internship programs" and "summer camps" internally, fostering stronger employee engagement and a sense of belonging.

By balancing beneficiaries’ immediate needs (academic support, infrastructure) with long-term development (career guidance), as well as considering the well-being of both the company and the community, this initiative empowers more possibilities through education.

With strategic focus on the education sector, we apply our funding and engineering capabilities in the water well digging and water pipeline projects to address the drinking water shortage of rural schools.

Beyond providing equipment and funding to water supply projects for the rural schools, Wilo also delivered O2O classes on water science, teaching the origin of water, how the water comes into our home and why we should save water etc. To create immerse learning experience, we developed hands-on pumps model and encouraged kids to get involved into the interaction to understand how water pumps work.

Measurable Outcomes:

650+ children across three schools benefited from the water projects.

Nearly 1,000 children were reached through O2O classes within 12 months.

ALDI has initiated a significant action to reduce plastic usage in fruit packaging by incorporating circular economy principles into its design. This initiative commenced in 2023, with the goal of enhancing ALDI's Global Sustainability Strategy regarding packaging reduction and increasing recyclability. The primary aim was to eliminate hard-to-recycle plastic packaging types within the fruit category. To achieve this, a 12-member cross-functional Plastic Reduction Taskforce was established, comprising members from Sustainability, Buying, Quality Assurance, strategic fruit suppliers, and packaging engineers. The team conducted research on the existing recycling market, packing houses, logistics, and store handling processes. This research provided the team with a deeper understanding of the fruit supply chain and allowed for the establishment of measurable targets. The redesign of fruit packaging was subsequently decided upon, focusing on two main strategies: reducing plastic weight and substituting it with paper.

Through multiple rounds of prototyping, three standardized, purpose-built packaging solutions were developed, tailored to the durability profiles of different fruits: lightweight zip bags for robust fruits such as oranges and apples; kraft paper trays with minimal film wrap for semi-fragile items; and paper boxes with transparent plastic tops for delicate berries. Each of these solutions also enhanced space efficiency while preserving protective integrity. The outcomes for 2024 showcased remarkable resource efficiency. ALDI successfully implemented these three improved packaging solutions across more than 50 fruit SKUs in 2024, resulting in a reduction of 93.57 tons in virgin plastic usage. This included 74.20 tons saved through the lightweighting of 34 fruit SKUs and 19.37 tons eliminated through paper substitution for 18 fragile items. The standardized designs not only reduced operational costs through bulk procurement but also enhanced shelf aesthetics.

Strategic collaborations were pivotal to achieving success, with ALDI’s Sustainability Department’s lead and assessment; buying and quality assurance teams facilitated supplier engagement and quality verification; packaging engineers implemented design innovations; and suppliers supported rapid prototyping and scalable production. This initiative serves as a model for circular economic practices, minimizing plastic waste while enhancing supply chain resilience and consumer value. It illustrates ALDI’s dedication to sustainability, which is now being integrated into daily operations, with suitable new fruit products that automatically utilize the optimized packaging. Established specifications within procurement processes anticipate a reduction of over 100 tons of plastic annually. The related strategies have been integrated into corporate operations and publicly disclosed.

Regarding supplier and partner engagement, Bader has established long-term procurement partnerships with coffee farmers in Mexico, Ethiopia, China, and Thailand, purchasing discarded coffee husks as natural tanning agents, creating a "second income" for farmers and promoting the resource recovery of agricultural waste.

Product design fully adheres to circular economy principles: utilizing 100% renewable bio-based materials to replace fossil-based chemicals; replacing chrome tanning with vegetable tanning combined with acid-free clean production technology to achieve chrome-free and low-VOC performance. Production by-products can be made into 100% biodegradable planters, and leather scraps fully degrade into plant nutrients within three months, truly realizing a "cradle-to-nature" closed loop.

Measurable impact: B-Green's lifecycle carbon emissions are 21% lower than conventional chrome-free leather, and it has been applied in the NIO ES7 (globally launched in 2022) and the upcoming Mercedes-Benz MMA platform vehicles (2025 launch).

In terms of continuous improvement, Bader continuously optimizes Cascara tanning efficiency, expands the application of agricultural waste, and plans to achieve carbon neutrality across all product lines by 2030, driving the industry's green transformation.

In the packaging process, for imports and exports between the headquarters and GEMÜ China, recyclable plastic packaging has replaced traditional cardboard boxes, reducing resource consumption and waste generation. Compared to before the implementation of recyclable packaging, the use of traditional cardboard boxes has been reduced by 40%.

During production, various types of waste materials are incorporated into the recycling system, with scientific processing enabling resource regeneration. Annually, the recycling volume of metals, paper, and wood reaches nearly 10,000 kg, while plastic recycling exceeds 800 kg.

In terms of product innovation, GEMÜ has improved the compatibility between different types of valve actuators and valve bodies through standardized design, effectively avoiding production and material waste caused by mismatched specifications.

Additionally, GEMÜ uses recyclable tables, chairs, and exhibition stands at trade shows to eliminate waste from single-use items.

Protecting the environment is an important element of VWA’s company culture. A special focus is put on raising employees’ awareness for sustainability and driving all employees to practice sustainable development. This is reflected in many aspects, e.g. Quality Management System, HR management tools, employee communication channels and formats. To give an example, in the future VWA will offer a Green Plant Tour to provide the stakeholders with an insight into our commitment to sustainability.

VWA’s efforts to completely remove phosphorus from any wastewater is part of the company’s Waste-Free concept. Not only are ways and means of waste disposal continuously optimized, but more importantly, all processes and activities (on the production line as well as in any other areas such as logistics or administration) are trimmed to avoid waste in the first place. In the beginning of 2025, VWA was awarded the title of Waste Free Factory by Hefei government thanks to its achievements in green production and hazardous waste treatment. Besides the phosphorus wastewater treatment other achievements are: elimination of plastic packaging for 172 parts delivered to the assembly line, optimized production planning to reduce the cleaning frequency of paint robots to achieve a reduction of over 20% in the amount of cleaning agent used per vehicle, and optimization of the thermal recovery incineration system to lower the temperature of the drying room, which is expected to save about 10% of energy consumption, etc.

Phosphorus containing wastewater is a big issue in most manufacturing industries and especially in car manufacturing, where the car body painting process generates large amounts of such wastewater.

Anhui provincial government has implemented laws and regulations imposing strict limits on nitrogen and phosphorus emissions into water bodies to prevent eutrophication – with a special focus on the province’s most important water reservoir Chaohu Lake (China’s sixth large fresh-water lake). VWA is fully committed to environmental protection. The Waste-Free concept and especially the phosphorus treatment efforts are a strong contribution to keeping the environment clean and using resources in a responsible and efficient way.

1. Global Strategy

“Clean water and sanitation” is written into our sustainability charter. We have long supported the UN Water Action Agenda and made ongoing donations to UNICEF, funding clean-water systems in water-scarce countries and cutting water-borne disease among children.

2. Standards Leadership

We co-authored the National Standard Atlas “Selection & Installation of Composite Fiber Pipes for HVAC” with China Building Standard Design & Research Institute and China State Construction Third Engineering Bureau, giving the industry its first replicable, scalable playbook. Our products are listed in the national ODCC Data-Center White Paper, and our BIM-driven “Johnson Controls HVAC Chilled-Water Plant Retrofit” won the China Refrigeration & Air-Conditioning Industry Association “Public Health Demonstration Project” award.

3. China in Action

Air pollution claims 1 in 9 lives globally, disproportionately affecting vulnerable communities in heavily polluted megacities. IQAir addresses this environmental injustice through innovative monitoring technology that provides real-time air quality data to underserved areas, empowering communities to identify risks and take protective actions.

The AirVisual platform, developed and supported by a dedicated team in China, ensures that technological solutions are both cutting-edge and closely aligned with local needs.

2. Measurable outcomes:

- Since 2023, deployed 84 monitoring stations across 71 cities in 24 countries

- Established sole real-time monitoring in 17 previously unserved cities

- 25 additional stations currently under development

3. Partner collaboration:

• Schools: Schools are a key focus of IQAir's Global Community Air Quality Monitoring Program. In Cameroon, IQAir has collaborated with local schools to launch the 'School4Earth' initiative. This program is currently being implemented by local institutions, such as the WHO-supported Global Youth Strategy (GYS) on Air Pollution & CH.

A monitoring station has already been established at Franky Comprehensive Secondary School in Yaoundé. A further six secondary schools in Cameroon will set up monitoring stations.

• NGOs:

- Clean Air One Atmosphere is based in Ghana. Over the past year, the organization has deployed 4 IQAir monitoring stations.

- IQAir has funded 5 monitoring stations for Red Lightning, three of which are located in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii, USA. In August 2023, wildfires triggered by a hurricane devastated the island of Maui. In September 2023, Red Lightning established 2 monitoring stations in Lahaina Town. In the event of wildfires, the rise in AQI index readings at these monitoring stations can provide an earlier warning of danger to residents.

- Pakistan has experienced a significant worsening of smog problems. WWF Pakistan currently operates 12 IQAir monitoring stations across 11 cities. 1. Post Mentor Empowerment Activities (PMEA)

In collaboration with partner enterprises, the PMEA was organized (including four themes: integration, empowerment, evaluation, and recognition), allowing post mentor to feel the recognition and importance of their apprenticeship guidance work from the enterprises. They were provided with the ability to train apprentices in technical skills and understand the psychological characteristics of Generation Z apprentices. Quarterly interviews, evaluations, action follow-ups, and final recognition were conducted, thereby enhancing the enthusiasm and teaching ability of the entire mentor team. Through empowering the mentors, this energy was passed on to the apprentices, ultimately improving the stability of talents. The retention rate increased by 20%, promoting the common and healthy development of apprentices and enterprises.

2. Academic Degree Enhancement Policy

The training center encourages apprentices to complete a higher academic degree (junior college/undergraduate) through a special self-study examination during their participation in the training center's program. The center covers the cost of degree enhancement, which not only meets the apprentices' demand for academic advancement, improves the local talent quality, but also retains outstanding talents for enterprises. This policy was later adopted by the local government, which introduced relevant policies for subsidies for the academic degree enhancement of dual-vocational graduates.

3. Operation Model Construction

KERN LIEBERS Apprentice Training Center has always regarded the cultivation of excellent technical workers and the exploration of an efficient operation model of the German dual-vocational system as its mission, and is willing to provide effective experience references for other enterprises to carry out dual-vocational training center projects. During the past three years of practice, it has further sorted out and solidified the key operation indicators of enterprise training centers - retention rate, score rate, pass rate, vocational quality cultivation, and quantitative evaluation; established an operation responsibility matrix for the cooperation among the government, enterprises, and schools; and distilled the formula for the successful operation of enterprise dual-vocational training centers. These experiences were shared with industry peers, with about 50 visits received each year, sharing the practical experience of the localization of the German dual-vocational system with guests from government, schools, and enterprises at domestic and abroad, promoting the development of the German dual-vocational education model in China. These achievements have been recognized by the Taicang government, and it has consecutively won the title of "Outstanding Training Center in Taicang City" in the past two years of evaluations.

Through the application of fully automatic injection molding machines, robotic arms, and production management systems, the workshop achieves digitalized management. The entire injection molding production process is subject to real-time monitoring and precise control.

• In the production process, fully automated injection molding machines can automatically collect key parameters such as temperature, pressure, and speed, standardizing and automating the production process, reducing human error, and improving product consistency. The digital management system can perform in-depth analysis of production data, optimize production schedules and planning, improve equipment utilization rates, and reduce inventory costs.

• Following the implementation of the project, production efficiency increased by 20%, product defect rates decreased by 25%, inventory accuracy reached over 97%, and both labor costs and material waste were significantly reduced. Additionally, the digital workshop features robust traceability capabilities, enabling rapid identification of the root causes of quality issues and providing strong support for quality improvements, thereby helping the company gain a competitive edge in the fiercely competitive market.

By replacing traditional manual experience with precise data-driven management, the solution effectively addresses extreme cold weather O&M challenges, reduces downtime, and notably cuts carbon emissions. It provides a replicable and sustainable innovation model for clean rural heating in northern China, fully contributing to the achievement of "dual-carbon" goals.
